I am a true believer in the thought that “The Journey is Just as Important as the Destination”, because I lived it. Growing up as a little black girl on Detroit’s Eastside I spent most of my childhood hiding the truth of what was truly going on behind the closed doors of my home. Being subjected to abuse at an early age, I would grow up to become a woman who would spend many years fighting the demons of the past that haunted me.Why did God choose me for this life? Why was I not good enough? Why doesn’t she like? What was it about me that made people think it was ok to abuse me, use me...? Why me? These were the questions that would play over and over again in my head.It’s strange how in one regard you can be so broken but in another so strong. You can be the little girl that cries herself to sleep at night and at the very same time rise in the midst of pain. That was me. This is me.
